College Scholarships

The Harry & Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center is thrilled to offer two scholarships for graduating high school seniors as an expression of our commitment to cultivating generational leadership and building opportunities for the growth and development of young people in our community: The Roman Shklyar Outstanding Jewish Tennis Player Scholarship and the Lizzie Kander Heart of Community Scholarship.

Applications for both scholarships must be received by noon on Monday, April 7, 2025. Winners will be notified by Monday, April 14, 2025, and will be celebrated at the JCC’s Annual Celebration & Awards event on Wednesday, June 4, 2025.

Lizzie Kander Heart of Community Scholarship ($1000)

This scholarship is awarded to a current high school senior who has been impacted by a program of the Harry & Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center. Applicants are asked to submit a 150-500 word essay describing how the JCC’s programs and/or services have impacted you, your family, or your community.

Roman Shklyar Outstanding Jewish Tennis Player Scholarship ($1000)

This scholarship is awarded to a Jewish high school senior who excels both on and off the tennis court. Applicants will be evaluated based on a balance of their athletic and academic achievements as well as their involvement in community service.
