Annual Scholarship Drive is in Full Swing!

December 24, 2012

By: Moshe Katz, Chair of the JCC Board of Directors, Jane Chernof, Chair of the Development Committee, & Nancy Kennedy Barnett, Chair of the Scholarship Drive.

A new year approaches with all the triumphs and challenges that life throws at us.  For many fortunate people in our community, this will be a year of abundance with opportunities to pay that good fortune forward and contribute to various causes.  For others in our community this will be a difficult year; one in which they are humbled to the point of asking for financial assistance.   We hope you feel yourself among the fortunate and if so, we’re asking for your help.

The JCC gave over $222,000 in scholarships last year, an increase of 5 percent over the previous year.  This year’s goal for the Annual Scholarship Appeal is to raise $55,000.  In addition to the funds raised by this appeal, the JCC raises money for our scholarship fund through our many named endowment funds, through our annual KidShare event, and through our Camp Interlaken Alumni Scholarship Appeal.

Because of your generous support of our scholarship program…

      • more children receive excellent early childhood education in our Gan Ami program
      • our Kids Center afterschool program provides more children with a safe and nurturing place to do homework & participate in fun activities while their parents work
      • unforgettable Jewish camp experiences become reality for more young campers; including our Shiluv campers with special needs, and our many special camp opportunities such as Children’s Hospital Camp and Gilda’s Club Camp
      • older adults with limited incomes can take part in educational, social and fitness programs

Because of your gift, our community can be more compassionate and supportive toward those families experiencing difficult times.

Please join us as we lend a hand to those in need.
