Around the Table - KidShare 2017
April 18, 2017
"What KidShare moment am I most looking forward to? The food!" said KidShare 2017 co-chair and Surg Restaurant Group (Carnevor, HOM, Distil) owner Omar Shaikh, who along with wife Connie takes the KidShare lead for the first time. "KidShare supports an unbelievable organization with passionate and great leadership - and this year will be the same great event, but with new restaurants and experience opportunities."
Now in its 27th year, KidShare is the JCC’s signature fundraiser featuring over 30 of Milwaukee’s best restaurants and culinary experts at the Pfister Hotel. With an incredible raffle, silent and live auction, and the best company any room can find – KidShare is the community’s opportunity to raise awareness and resources for the JCC’s education, camping, special needs, and social services.
“There are so many wonderful fundraisers throughout our city “added Dr. David Margolis of Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, who joins his wife Jody for a return engagement as KidShare co-chair. “We break bread together and support incredible programs designed to help children throughout our community.”
Though KidShare counts among the Shaikhs’ and Margolis’ favorite community events, neither couple are strangers to community leadership. Jody serves as Director of Special Needs and Inclusion at the JCC, and Connie serves as a volunteer leader at a variety of Milwaukee-area non-profits. Last year, the Shaikhs served as hosts of the 2016 Sojourner Fashion Show, and the Margolis are very involved in the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin Foundation the MACC Fund, and Make-A-Wish. (You might also recognize David from the national coverage he received for his “Rocks For A Reason” campaign!)
“We truly believe that partnering together to improve the lives of people in our community is one of the important missions for the JCC,” said Jody. “KidShare fuels so many of those programs.”
New restaurants at KidShare 2017 include Easy Tyger, dandan, and Third Coast Provisions. Among the many returning favorites are Lake Park Bistro, Mason Street Grill, Wolf Peach, and Smoke Shack.
“There are too many great menu items. The moment we look forward to is seeing the community come together to help out children, “ Jody added. She and David are proud parents of two daughters, both of whom now work at local hospitals. Connie and Omar lead a full household, beyond being business owners, and have three children and two dogs.
“We would love to raise a record amount of money for this great cause,” said Connie, which will be accomplished with the support of corporate sponsors, raffle ticket purchases, and bids on both the silent and live auctions.
KidShare will again be hosted at the historic, Pfister Hotel on Thursday, May 11th. To learn more about sponsorship, attendance, or any auction or raffle items, contact Micki Seinfeld at 414-967-8235. Last year’s event sold out in record time, so early registration is strongly encouraged.
