13 young, Jewish adults walk into a bar…
No it is not the beginning of a bad joke, but it is the beginning of YJAM’s (Young Jewish Adults of Milwaukee) newest program, Jews, Views & Brews.
This exciting new program for Milwaukee’s Young Jewish adults is designed to bring our Jewish community’s young clergy, of all different sects of Judaism, to our community’s young, Jewish adults in an informal and comfortable setting.
Rabbi Jessica Barolsky of Congregation Emanu-El B’ne Jeshurun kicked off the first Jews, Views & Brews program in early November at Molly Cools Tavern. The topic of choice… G-d.
It is not every day that you walk into a bar to find over a dozen young, Jewish adults talking about G-d… over brews… with a Rabbi. The discussion went in all different directions. We answered questions like, do you believe in G-d? We talked about the perception society has on young people who do or do not believe in G-d and so much more. The best part was that all of the participants had the opportunity to talk with Rabbi Barolsky and ask her questions.
If you are sad you missed our first event, don’t worry. Our next Jews, Views & Brews is scheduled for Monday, January 27th at 7:00 PM at the Collectivo in Bay View with Cantor Lauren Phillips of Congregation Sinai. Join us to find out what we will be talking about next!
Jews, Views & Brews is just one program of YJAM. YJAM also hosts Shabbat dinners every other month (CLICK HERE to find out more about our next one on Friday, December 6th), as well as lots of other social opportunities (don’t miss our biggest event of the year on Tuesday, December 24th when we take over the lobby of the Hyatt-Downtown with live music, food and fun!)
So if you know anyone in their 20's and 30's who are looking to meet new people? Do them a favor and tell them about YJAM or have them connect with me directly at email@example.com.
